Egg Imports Halt as Production IncreasesEgg Imports Halt as Production Increases

Egg imports have come to a halt following the rise in domestic production and the return of supply-demand balance in Iran, secretary-general of Iran’s Union of Producers of Egg-Laying Hen said.
Farzad Talakesh added that egg prices are set to decline in the next Iranian month (starting May 22).
“Domestic demand during the holy month of Ramadan (May 15-June 14) will be met with domestic supply and there will be no need for imports,” Talakesh was quoted as saying by IRNA.
With the outbreak of the deadly avian flu in Iranian chicken farms late last year (ended March 20), balance between supply and demand was disturbed due to the loss of many chickens, leading to an increase in egg prices.
