Iran exported 5.78 million tons of metallurgical products worth $2.5 billion during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), registering a growth of 8% in value and 39% in weight compared with last year’s similar period.
This was announced by Mikaeil Azimi, director general of Mining Industries Office at the Iranian Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade.
The ministry is targeting the export of goods worth $4.1 billion by the end of the year.
Steel ingot exports stood at 3.5 million tons during the period, indicating a 120% rise year-on-year.
Imports of all metal products during the same period declined by 33% in weight as compared to last year.
Imports of steel ingots fell by 83% in weight.
The main destinations for Iran’s metallurgical exports include Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Qatar, Pakistan and the UAE.
“Flat products are mainly exported to Iraq, the UAE, Belgium, Afghanistan, Spain, Armenia and Oman,” Azimi said.
