Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Massoumeh Ebtekar and President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid met in Iceland on Thursday, calling for expansion of mutual relations and cooperation.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Women Political Leaders Global Forum in Rykjavik, capital of Iceland, IRNA reported. The forum was attended by leading women politicians from across the world who exchanged views about women’s issues and shared related experiences.

“Diplomatic and commercial ties between Iran and Estonia are very promising and the two capitals are expected to witness an increase in bilateral cooperation in the fields of women and family-related affairs,” Ebtekar told President Kaljulaid during the meeting.

She added that the two countries have various avenues for expansion of cooperation in information technology, telecommunications, tourism and handicraft industries.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is also willing to broaden bilateral cooperation mainly in the post-JCPOA era,” Ebtekar said. The Estonian president agreed to further broaden cooperation in women-related affairs with Iran.

“Information technology and telecommunications play significant role in expansion of tourism industry, which help rehabilitate the status of women in terms of economy,” she said.
