Iran’s textile industry is currently operating at 30% of its capacity due to the recession and lack of demand in the domestic market, the head of the Association of Iran Textile Industries said.
“We need 1.6 billion meters of fabric annually and can only produce half of that domestically if everything goes well. Imports provide only 30% of this shortage and the rest is unfortunately smuggled into the country,” Mohammad Morravej Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
