More than 25,000 tons of eggs have been exported during the current Iranian year (started March 20), according to the head of the Union of Egg-Laying Hen Farmers, Reza Torkashvand. He said exports have dropped compared with the similar period of a year before, amid the strong presence of Iran’s regional rivals such as Turkey. He did not provide more details, IRNA reported. Low exports combined with overproduction have recently led to the decline of egg prices in the domestic market. According to Torkashvand, Iran exported 1,000 tons of eggs, which account for 10% of Iran’s annual 940,000-ton production.
