According to data released by Iran Customs According to data released by Iran Customs Administration, more than 43,000 tons of palm oil valued at $33.1 million were imported during the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), which indicates a 17.1 percent increase in terms of weight and a one-percent decline in value compared to the similar period of last year, Mehr News Agency reported. Palm oil is an edible oil derived from the reddish pulp of the fruit of oil palms. Its overall health impacts, particularly in relation to cardiovascular disease, are controversial and subject to ongoing research. Much of the palm oil that is consumed as food is to some degree oxidized and this appears to be responsible for the health risk associated with consuming palm oil.
