Tractor Sazi F.C. Privatized

Tractor Sazi Tabriz Football Club was officially privatized on Saturday with a non-institutional investor emerging as the buyer. The club, owned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps through its financial arm Mehr Finance and Credit Institution, was transferred to Mohammad Reza Zonouzi, an investor with extensive stakes in aviation, sports, base metals and banking industries. Zonouzi is also the owner of another Tabriz-based team, Gostaresh Foulad F.C., which has already been put up for sale as the law prohibits the simultaneous ownership of two football teams, IRNA reported. The sale’s value has yet to be announced, but a report by Eghtesad News in early May estimated Tractor Sazi F.C.’s value plus its outstanding debts at about 1.78 trillion rials ($42.38 million).
