Iran’s first biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate production line has been launched by Sepehr Polymer Sepahan Complex in Isfahan Province. It was inaugurated by First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri on Thursday. The industrial complex has been founded with a $31 million investment (both from domestic and foreign sources) and is capable of producing 32,000 tons of BoPET films with a thickness and width of 8 micrometers and 9 meters respectively per annum. It will create 300 jobs, IRNA reported, adding that close to 95% of the plant’s required raw materials will be supplied domestically. BoPET is a polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate used for its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties, and electrical insulation.
