Local automaker Kerman Motor will deliver the first batch of Hyundai Accent assembled in Iran next week, the company’s sales manager told reporters on the sidelines of Isfahan Motor Show held in the central city Jan. 23-26.

Earlier in November, the company launched presales of the model which has been warmly welcomed. “All the vehicles on offer have been sold out,” Khabar Online quoted Hassan Akbari as saying.

The vehicle is priced at 1.07 billion rials ($24,800) by Kerman Motor and buyers paid 500 million rials ($10,960) as down payment. Prices for Accent 2018 begin from $15,000 in the international market.

Akbari said, “Talks are underway between Kerman Motor and the Hyundai over the South Korean carmaker’s possible investment in Iran. The results of the negotiations will be announced in March.”

Under a joint venture deal signed in March 2017, Kerman Motor assembles three Hyundai models namely i10, i20 and Accent in the central city of Bam, Kerman Province.

During the car show, in addition to Accent Kerman Motor showcased two new vehicles, namely Hyundai Elantra and JAC J4.

The company has launched assembly lines for the Chinese-derived JAC J4 and 20 units of the model have been made so far by the company.

Akbari says, “Elantra’s assembly line will be launched by September. The vehicle will be priced at about 1.5 billion rials ($35,000).” The same car is available for half the price in the international market.

In addition to production, Kerman Motor imports other Hyundai vehicles. The company plans to unveil the imported Hyundai Azera 2018 in Tehran next month.
