7 Mineral Projects Ready to Come on Stream

Seven mining and mineral projects are ready to be inaugurated in the provinces of Kerman, Zanjan, South Khorasan and Isfahan, the chairman of Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said.
According to Khodadad Gharibpour, the projects will create 6,923 direct and indirect jobs, the news portal of IMIDRO reported.
Projects in Zanjan, South Khorasan and Isfahan include Angouran Sulfide Mine for extraction of 120,000 tons per annum of ores from the underground section of Angouran lead and zinc mine; Tabas coal processing project (operated by Middle East Mines & Mineral Industries Development Holding Company) for the production of 550,000 tons of raw concentrates; in addition to a casting plant (operated by Iran International Engineering Company). 
A total of $37 million have been invested in these projects, which will create 213 direct and 950 indirect jobs.
As for projects in Kerman, four projects with an investment of $630 million are ready to become operational in the southern province. They include Baft steel project with a capacity of producing 800,000 tons of direct-reduced iron per year; Kowsar DRI Plant with a 2-million-ton capacity per annum; oxygen production unit at Sirjan Steel Company with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year; and Sirjan combined cycle power plant with a production capacity of 160 megawatts.
The projects in Kerman will create 1,230 direct jobs and 4,530 indirect jobs.
