The output of Iran's major aluminum producers stood at an aggregate of 301,033 tons in the last Iranian year (ended March 20), which indicates an 11% decrease compared with last year's corresponding period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported.
Flagship producer Iran Aluminum Company accounted for 170,912 tons of the total figure, unchanged compared to the year before. It was followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company with 77,326 tons, down 27% YOY, and Almahdi Aluminum Company with 52,795 tons, down 14% YOY.
Aluminum production during the month to March 20 stood at 16,544 tons to witness a fall of 42% YOY.
Iran Alumina Company produced 237,563 tons of alumina powder last year, down 1% YOY.
Alumina powder output in the month ending March 20 amounted to 20,698 tons, up by 8% compared with last year’s similar period.
Iran has a current aluminum nameplate capacity of 457,000 tons per year, of which about 437,000 tons are operational, Metal Bulletin reported.
The country is planning to increase annual production to 1.5 million tons by 2025.
