Iran's major aluminum producers' output stood at an aggregate of 231,031 tons during the first eight months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Nov. 21), which indicates a 3% increase compared with last year's corresponding period, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported.
Flagship producer Iran Aluminum Company accounted for 117,667 tons of the total figure, followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company with 69,074 tons and Almahdi Aluminum Company with 44,290 tons.
Iran Alumina Company produced 159,024 tons of alumina powder during the same eight-month period.
According to Metal Bulletin, Iran has a current aluminum nameplate capacity of 457,000 tons per year, of which about 437,000 tons are operational.
The country is planning to increase annual production to 1.5 million tons by 2025.
