Iran's Kish Airlines Signs Deal to Buy 10 Boeing 737 Max Jets

Iran’s Kish Airlines says it has signed a preliminary agreement with American planemaker Boeing to purchase 10 737Max jets.

CEO of the Iranian airline, Mohammad Taqi Jadidi, was quoted by Fars News Agency as saying that the company is now looking for financiers.

He did not elaborate on the type of the agreement or when and where the deal was signed.

Jadidi added that the airline is also planning to buy six Airbus A320 family jets by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2018), explaining that these will be planes repossessed by financier banks, without elaborating further.

Kish Airlines operates from Iran’s southern tourist hub and free trade zone of Kish Island. Apart from domestic flights, it operates international and charter services. The airline was established in 1989.

The carrier has two Airbus A321s, two Airbus A320s,  seven US-manufactured McDonnell Douglas planes, and three Dutch-made medium-sized twin-turbofan Fokker 100 airliners

Earlier this month, the carrier was granted a license by Oman’s civil aviation authority to launch direct flights between Bandar Abbas and the Omani capital of Muscat.
