Iran Air plans to launch direct flights between Doha, the capital city of Qatar, and the resort island of Kish in southern Iran and the Iranian capital Tehran, on the occasion of World Cup 2022.
The announcement was made by Hessam Qorban-Ali, spokesman of the flag carrier of the Islamic Republic of Iran, IRNA reported.
“The sale of Kish-Doha flight tickets has started on Iran Air’s website at Ebooking.iranair.com,” he added.
The 2022 event is the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup competition, contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It is scheduled to take place in Qatar from Nov. 21 to Dec. 18. This will be the first World Cup ever to be held in the Middle East and the second World Cup held entirely in Asia after the 2002 tournament was held in South Korea and Japan.
In January, Iran qualified for the World Cup finals, the third in a row and its sixth overall. Iran, which has never advanced beyond the group stage, will face the United States and England in Group B.
On three days of the Iranian national football team’s matches in the Qatar World Cup 2022, flights will be scheduled from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport using Iran Air’s Airbus aircraft.
The three matches of the Iranian national football team will be held on Nov. 21, Nov. 25 and Nov. 29.
