Demand for charter bus tickets to the Armenian border town of Norduz in Jolfa has increased after Armenia said tourists would be inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine, according to Ahmadreza Ameri, the head of Iran's Intercity Transportation Union.
Tehran-Norduz ticket prices have risen by $28 to $320-400 and each bus is allowed to accommodate 17 passengers, ILNA reported.
Ambulance buses are stationed on the Armenian side of the border and carry out vaccinations, with tourists having the right to choose the type of vaccine. Travelers are required to carry a negative PCR test.
As Iranian vehicles are not allowed to cross the border into Armenia, tourists will be transported into the neighboring country via Armenian fleet at the border.
Meanwhile, a passenger plane carrying 143 passengers left Armenia's capital Yerevan and landed at Tabriz International Airport on Thursday to mark the start of a direct flight between the two cities.
According to Director General of Iranian East Azarbaijan Province Airports Ramin Azari, the flight was operated by state-owned Armenian Airways, Mehr News Agency reported.
With the establishment of this flight, the number of foreign flights at Tabriz Airport has increased to 32 flights per week, he added.
Azari said currently 26 round-trip flights are conducted from Tabriz Shahid Madani International Airport to Istanbul, two flights to Izmir and four flights to Yerevan.
