Annual Mineral Extraction From SW Province Reaches 5.2m Tons

About 5.2 million tons of minerals were extracted from Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari in the last Iranian year (ended March 20, 2021), according to a local official from the provincial Industries, Mining and Trade Organization.
"Currently, 107 licensed mines are active in this province and their proven reserves are estimated to be 890 million tons," Mehrdad Qasemi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
There are 164 mines in this province, employing 924 people directly and about 2,000 people indirectly.
There are eight types of minerals in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari, including decorative building stone, raw materials of cement, gypsum, sand and silica, refractory soil and dolomite.  
Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari is one of the 31 provinces in southwestern Iran.
