A total of 123,000 tons of commodities worth $136 million were exported from Ardabil Province’s Bileh Savar border crossing during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20-Dec. 20, 2020), showing a 30% increase in value compared with the similar period of last year.
According to Hassan Qobadi, a local official, the exports mainly included potatoes, glass, tiles and ceramics, and plastic and metal products.
Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan were the main destinations, IRNA reported.
The official noted that over the same nine-month period, around 5,170 tons of products worth $6.5 million were imported through the crossing, indicating a 25% decline in value year-on-year.
Bileh Savar, bordering Azerbaijan Republic and located in the north of Ardabil, is the province’s only border terminal.
