Bounced checks in the final month of the last fiscal year (ended March 20) increased slightly in value but jumped in volume from the month before.
More than 622,000 checks worth 331 trillion rials ($1.2 billion) were rejected indicating 1.2% rise in value but 9.6% higher in number on a monthly basis.
From the corresponding month in the last fiscal year, the number of bad checks dropped sharply by 18.4% but increased 5.8% in value terms.
Bounced checks accounted for 8.9% of the total number of checks and 11% of the value of checks drawn during the, the Central Bank of Iran reported.
