Geely Emgrand Concept Unveiled

The Chinese auto market has taken another step towards parity with their European rivals in the form of the all-new Geely Emgrand Concept Car News China reports.

The new car unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show on Monday, shows a sleek sporty compact sedan.

The Chinese car blog notes that the Emgrand name came as a shock to chinese car watchers as the brand was supposed to of been merged into the wider Geely brand. However the showcasing of this new sedan suggests the Chinese company has changed its mind.

Chrome exhaust pipes sit flush with the bumper. Geely hasn’t announced anything on power yet but the company has more than enough engines for a vehicle of this size and kind, including 1.3 turbo, 1.6 turbo, and 1.8 turbo four-cylinder petrol units.

The final version of the Emgrand concept is expected to be not too dissimilar from this showcased version.

The Emgrand Concept previews a new premium compact sedan that will be built on a new platform developed in conjunction with Volvo, which Geely now owns. The platform will spawn various Geely-branded and Volvo-branded cars.  The new Geely variants will spearhead the company’s first push into Europe by Geely.

Geely has been present in the Iranian market over the last few years, and begun a greater push to increase its market share locally.

In 2012 the company invested in prime property on Shariati street to house their flagship showroom in Tehran.
