Playwright and theater director Jalal Tehrani is to restage his play “The Tank” on July 23 at Maktab Cultural Institute in Tehran.
According to the public relations office of the institute, the theatrical work is based on a play written by Tehrani in 2004 which first went on stage in Molavi Theater in 2012.
Two brothers who work at a gas station are investigated by their father, who owns the place, for the disappearance of their half brother and sister. Through the questioning, which makes up the greater part of the play, it is revealed that one of the brothers, introduced as the smarter one, has killed the half brother and sister.
Tehrani’s play touches on several social issues such as patriarchy, working class problems, lies, submissiveness, migration and broken families.
Majid Aqa-Karimi, Mohammad-Sadeq Malek, Reyhaneh Khatami and Sepideh Seifouri are in the cast and music is by Alireza Mashayekhi.
The venue is located at No. 8, Keyvan Alley, Azodi Street, Karimkhan Avenue.
