Ford Motor Company Buys Ahmad Vakili’s Painting

A painting by the contemporary painter Ahmad Vakili has been purchased by the American Ford Motor Co.

Tara Gallery in Los Angeles has sold the 80cm by 100cm acrylic painting known as “Scent of Wheat” to Diana Ehrstin, manager of executive services at the giant auto company, Mehr News Agency quoted Homa Taraji, gallery curator, as saying.

“The painting was created in 2014 during my travels in Iran. I painted it while I was in a vast wheat field near Lorestan,” Vakili said.

According to  the gallery website that showcases the painter’s acrylic and watercolor works, Scent of Wheat was sold for $2800.

Vakili, 56, is a student of abstract and surreal painter Hannibal Alkhas (1930-2010). He has participated in 40 plus group exhibitions since 1987.

His artworks were also displayed at several Asian exhibitions in 1991 and 1993 and featured in painting biennials in Tehran from 1992 to 2000.
