Mellat Park

Mellat Park on Valiasr Street is one of the largest urban parks in Iran where one can go for long strolls, see the old trees or do some outdoor workout.

Designed by contemporary architect Iraj E’tesam, the 6,000-sq meter park includes facilities such as playgrounds, snack bars, cafes, and a small aviary. The walkway that leads visitors from the main entrance to the artificial lake in the park is adorned with busts of Iranian luminaries. It takes considerable time to pause in front of each bust and read the description below it.

Valiasr Street runs by the eastern flank of the park; Enqelab Sports Club is to its west; from the north it is bounded by the state-owned Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting; and to the south is Rafsanjani Highway, named after former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Off the highway and adjacent to the southwestern flank of the park is Mellat Cineplex where there are movie theaters, exhibition spaces, restaurants and a CD and book shop.
