Homayoun Shajarian, Pournazeris Prepare for Canada Tour

Classical vocalist and tonbak player Homayoun Shajarian, son of the master vocalist of Persian traditional music Mohammad Reza Shajarian, is preparing for a tour across Canada.

The concerts in Canada are Shajarian’s latest joint project with brother composers Tahmoures and Sohrab Pournazeri, according to musiceiranian.ir.

Accompanied by an orchestra of Iranian instrumentalists, the three musicians are going to perform live in several cities.

Their first show will be in Montreal, the largest city of Quebec Province, on May 19. On the following day they go to Toronto.

A week later, on May 26, the seaport of Vancouver in British Columbia will host the  ensemble. The last leg of the tour will take place on May 29 in the cosmopolitan city of Calgary in Alberta Province.

Pournazeri brothers have recently composed a total of 14 pieces sung by Homayoun Shajarian in a series of concerts titled ‘My Iran.’ The pieces will soon be released in an album with the same title.
