Ten months after the death of the veteran Iranian singer-songwriter Habib Mohebian, popularly known as Habib, his elder son Ahmadreza has now released his first track in which he has collaborated with pop singer Samir Zand.

Titled ‘It’s Late’, the duet has lyrics from Farid Ahmadi and is produced by Ali Mansouri, ISNA reported.

The two singers have been granted permits by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the track will be included in Zand’s first official album, to be released soon, in which Ahmadreza is the guest singer.

Five years ago, Zand collaborated with Habib in the track ‘Convict’. That was when Habib returned to Iran in 2009, after living for two decades in the US.

Born in 1947 in Tehran, Habib upon his return settled in Ramsar in northern Iran, and sought permission from the Culture Ministry to resume his artistic career. He recorded some tracks in Iran; however, he was never given the required permit to release his works officially or to hold a concert. He died last June in Ramsar, due to cardiac arrest.

Habib has many hit songs including ‘Shahla’ which is said to be sung for his first wife, Ahmadreza’s mother.

During the time Habib worked outside Iran, no one knew about Ahmadreza. In 2003, Habib collaborated with his younger son Mohammad, from his second wife, in an album. They also staged a concert together. So the public only knew of Mohammad and thought he was his only son.

Ahmadreza appeared at his father’s funeral in Ramsar and that was the first time people learned Ahmadreza had lived all his life in Iran.

Although Habib’s efforts for a permit did not bear fruit, it can be said that Ahmadreza has realized what his father desired with his first official track.
