Three halls in Arg Cinema Complex at the Arg Shopping Center in Tehran’s Tajrish Square, have been officially inaugurated.
It opened a week before the beginning of Persian New Year (March 21) with six newly released films, IRNA reported.
The three halls accommodate 300 people. In addition, 11 more halls will be gradually added so that it can house fans with a total of 14 halls equipped with the latest technology and facilities.
The film production and distribution company Hedayat Film has invested in the cinema complex. The private company’s manager Morteza Shahyesteh said that his company is also financing the construction of seven more cineplexes in Tehran, Karaj, Mashhad, Yazd and Shiraz, which after completion will add 100 halls to the number of cinemas in the country.
Arg Shopping Center is a five-storey commercial complex with different stores for jewelry, perfume, cosmetics, clothing, electronics and household items plus restaurants and places for entertainment. It opened over a year ago.
Ekbatan Township’s First Cinema
Megamall Cineplex in Ekbatan Township, in western Tehran, will opened in two weeks.
Film producer Manouchehr Mohammadi, who is in charge of equipping the cineplex said the 10 halls of the complex are ready and will open by mid April, cinematicket.org reported.
The 40-year-old Ekbatan Township with a population of over 45,000 did not have a cinema.
The Ekbatan Megamall is a large commercial cultural complex with five floors of shopping arcade. Located on the third floor, the movie theaters are next to toy shops, bookstores, coffee shops and a theme park. The seven halls have 1,400 seats.
According to Mohammadi “it is one of the most beautiful and well-equipped cineplexes built in the country” which provides maximum facilities for the audience.
Modern cineplexes built in Tehran in recent years, namely Kourosh in the west, Charsou in the downtown part of the sprawling capital and Mellat in the north, have helped increase the number of filmgoers.
Charsou (with five halls) is the main location of the 35th Fajr International Film Festival, April 21-28, and Kourosh (with 14 halls) holds the record for the highest number of tickets sold in one day.
