Mexican Film Award for Golestaneh’s ‘Blind Spot’

The feature film ‘Blind Spot’ directed by Mehdi Golestaneh won the best director award at Las Cruces International Film Festival (LCIFF), Mexico (March 8-12).

The drama which competed with 11 other films from different countries won the award in the main competition section of feature films, ISNA reported.

At the closing ceremony on March 12, after the movie was announced as the winner, Golestaneh’s message was read on stage. “Movies on human relationships are always well received across the globe. In this film, I have done my best to work on an international issue that may occur anywhere in the world. I am glad that the festival has considered this point,” the message said.

The film narrates the story of a man who returns home after being away from his family for 23 days. With lots of questions in his mind, he is unable to confront the issues that came up during his absence.

The cast includes Mohamadreza Foroutan, Hanieh Tavasoli, Shaqayeq Farahani, Mohsen Kiai, Maryam Boubani and Khatereh Asadi among others.

The film was an official entry at the 2016 34th Fajr Film Festival in Iran, but has not yet been released for public screening in the country.
