Well-known cinema actor Mohammadreza Golzar, who also has a background in music, will stage his first concert in Tehran on March 10.
Golzar’s first ever vocal concert was held in Bandar-Abbas in southern Iran in January, and now he is getting ready to perform in Tehran with his band Rezzar.
He gained fame as guitarist of the Iranian pop music group, Arian Band, with their first album ‘Sunflower’ released in 2000. Together with the band, he performed several times on stage in and outside Iran.
In 2000, he was invited to act in the movie ‘Sam and Narges’ by the late filmmaker Iraj Qaderi. After getting involved in cinema, his activities as a musician reduced for some time.
However, he returned to music by establishing the band Rezzar (a combination of his first and last name) eight years ago. As the band leader, he has accompanied some pop singers in their concerts including Babak Jahanbakhsh, Rouzbeh Nematollahi and Maziar Fallahi, among others.
In the past three years, Golzar has released 10 single tracks which he intends to sing in the two performances at Milad Hall in the Tehran International Fair Grounds in March. He is planning to release his first album in the near future.
Born in Tehran, Golzar, 39, has acted in 30 movies and series, most of which did well at the box office. His last film ‘Salaam Mumbai’ has grossed over $3.4 million at the box-office after screening for two months in Iran, and ranked 4th in the country’s annual bestseller list.
A popular actor in Iran, he has a big fan base, which has guaranteed the sale of most of the films in which he has appeared. Similarly, his concert is expected to be well attended.
