Blackbird, a play written in 2005 by Scottish playwright David Harrower, opened on Monday, December 12, at Charsou Hall of Tehran City Theater.
The play was inspired by the crimes of former US marine Toby Studebaker, 45, who abducted a 12-year-old British girl in 2003 after soliciting her via the internet.
Actor and theater director Vahid Rahbani, 37, has translated the play that depicts a young woman meeting a middle-aged man, 15 years after being abused by him, according to Tiwall (tiwall.com).
The play will run through January 14, starting daily at 6 pm. It is directed by actress and theater director Samaneh Zandinejad, 31, winner of the best directing prize at the 30th Fajr Theater Festival 2012 held in Tehran.
Blackbird has two characters played by actress and filmmaker Soheila Golestani, 36, and actor, playwright, dramaturge and choreographer Morteza Esmail Kashi.
The theater is located at the intersection of Valiasr and Enqelab avenues.
