Iranian pop star Morteza Pashaei passed away in Tehran on Friday morning (November 14) after battling cancer for a year.

Pashaei was hospitalized in Tehran’s Bahman Hospital for about 10 days, FNA reported. The 30-year-old was suffering from cancer.

Pashaei is to be buried at the artists section of Behesht-e Zahra cemetery, south of Tehran, on Sunday. His funeral procession will start from Vahdat Hall.

Born in 1984 in Tehran, he was a singer, musician, and composer who started learning music at the age of 14. Pashaei’s first single track was released in 2010. From the beginning of his professional career, his works were warmly welcomed by the young generation for his special style, voice, and choice of songs.  He played the guitar as well as the piano.

Although suffering from the deadly illness, he held concerts this year and performed on the stage for millions of his Persian-speaking fans across the world.

‘Negarane Mani’ (You’re Worried About Me) was one of his most popular songs which he sang for the TV talk show ‘Mahe Asal’ (Honeymoon) broadcast during the month of Ramadan.

Gole Bita (Unique Flower), Yeki Hast (There’s Someone) and Esme Eshqe (Name of love) are among the albums released by Pashaei.
