‘Salaam Mumbai’ Arrives in Tehran for Final Phase

Having completed almost 80% of filming in India, the first Indo-Iranian co-production ‘Salaam Mumbai’ will start shooting the remaining scenes in Tehran from Monday, April 4.

Iranian Actors Mohammad Reza Golzar and Benyamin Bahadori will play in Tehran locations and the filming is planned for one week, Iranian film director Qorban Mohammadpour told Mehr News Agency.

“The post production stage will start soon after; however, editing is being done simultaneously by Iranian and Indian editors,” Mohammadpour added.

Benyamin is a famous pop singer who is experiencing his first performance in front of the camera in this film. He will travel to India next month to record the film songs in Indian studios.

“Benyamin will record two Persian songs and four more will be produced by an Indian singer; finally I will select four pieces to be included in the film,” the director said.

Benyamin’s wife, Shayli, has also acted in the movie. “When I met her and learned that she knows Hindi very well, I auditioned her. As she passed the test, I made a change in one of the characters of the story so that she can play the role of a girl from a Muslim family in India.

Mohammadpour believes summer is the best time to show the film in Iran; however, the Indian release is set for the fall. The Iranian film distribution company Filmiran will release the movie inside the country and Motion Pictures, an Indian company, will do the same in India.

Dia Mirza, Poonam Dhillon, Dalip Tahil, Gulshan Grover, Behrouz Chahal and Simran Mishrikoti are the Indian actors.

The movie is about two medical students from two different parts of the world and explores the tumultuous romantic tale of their relationship. It is co-produced by Javad Norouzbeigi from Iran and Pahlaj Nihalani from India.
