Iran finished fourth in the 2014 Asian Para Games, also known as the Second Asian Para Games, with 120 medals, including 37 gold, 52 silver and 31 bronze.

A total of 204 Iranian war wounded and disabled athletes, comprising 145 men and 56 women, took part in the competitions in 16 different fields, IRNA reported.

Out of the 120 medals, male athletes bagged 93 bronze, silver, and gold, while female competitors garnered 23; four more were won in mixed categories.

This year, the Iran team made significant progress in the medals tally compared to the previous edition of the games, where although they finished 4th, they took home only 80 medals.

China with 317, South Korea with 210 and Japan with 142 medals were placed among the top three and Uzbekistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Vietnam ranked fifth to tenth respectively.

A total of 32 countries won medals in the competitions.

The 2014 games were held in Incheon, South Korea, from October 18-24 and featured around 5,000 athletes competing across 23 sports.
