Passenger ferry services between Iran’s port of Shahid Bahonar in Hormozgan and the UAE’s Sharjah will resume after a two-year hiatus due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the director of Ports and Maritime Organization of Shahid Bahonar and East Hormozgan said on Tuesday.
“Thanks to vaccinations, reduction in Covid cases and completion of legal and diplomatic procedures, the first vessel will leave the port of Shahid Bahonar for Sharjah on Jan. 27,” Hamidreza Mohammad Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
“All passengers are required to be vaccinated and provide their negative PCR tests that must be conducted not more than 72 hours before boarding,” he added.
Scheduled to run twice a week by a high-speed passenger ferry with a capacity of 200 people, the journey from Shahid Bahonar Port to Sharjah will take six hours in favorable weather conditions.
