Several power and water schemes will be launched within the next two weeks in Khuzestan Province and executive operations for some more projects will begin there.
“The project to supply water to 904 villages in the southwestern province will be inaugurated in the first half of February,” managing director of Khuzestan Water and Wastewater Company said.
“The projects have been completed with an investment of $28 million,” Mohammad Reza Karaminejad was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
“Operations to supply water to 246 more villages will also be launched during this period,” he added.
According to the official, water supply to 1,000 villages is also on the company’s agenda, which will be carried out next year.
In addition to water projects, a number of power projects will also become operational early February.
A total of 143 electricity projects will be launched in Khuzestan, managing director of Khuzestan Electricity Distribution Company said.
Ali Khedri added that the company will undertake 41 electricity projects in the province during the same period.
“They include projects to reduce power loss and electricity supply to rural areas,” he added.
According to the official, the completed projects included installation of 143,885 meters of medium-pressure cables and 173,250 meters of low-pressure cables, as well as 288 transformers. They have been carried out at a cost of $6 million.
Khedri also noted that in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Dec. 20, 2021), 610 power projects have been completed in the province with a credit of $13 million.
Khuzestan has 1,112,440 electricity subscribers, of which 33% live in rural regions.
