Museums across Iran will not charge any entrance fee today, with the exception of foreign group tours, in commemoration of World Tourism Day.
Speaking to ISNA, Morteza Rahmani Movahed, the deputy for tourism at Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization, said all Iranian tourists and foreign visitors traveling independently will be able to visit museums free of charge.
Movahed implied that foreign group tours will have to pay, without elaborating further.
"In addition, hotels will offer 30-50% discount on room rates for two days," he was quoted as saying by the news agency.
World Tourism Day has been celebrated worldwide on September 27 every year since 1980.
