High-risk groups in the society should get vaccinated against the flu, said the head of Iran Pharmacists Association ahead of the cold season in fall. “Given the fluctuations in the temperature with autumn fast approaching, people at risk (those living in cold areas, children, and sick people) should receive flu shots,” said Dr. Seyyed Mahdi Sajjadi, ISNA reported. He also warned that self-prescribed use of antibiotics (without a doctor’s prescription) for common cold or even influenza would only weaken the body against the virus. “The flu vaccine will not immunize the body against the common cold as the two are not one and the same,” he stressed.
