Iran has delivered 38 tons of heavy water, a material used in nuclear reactors, to Russia this month, Russian nuclear agency Rosatom's CEO Sergei Kirienko said on Monday. "I can inform the respected colleagues that 38 tons of Iran's heavy water have been delivered in two flights on September 13 and 20," Kirienko said at the International Atomic Energy Agency's plenary session, Sputnik reported. In July, Alexei Karpov, Russia's deputy permanent envoy to international organizations in Vienna, said Moscow was ready to purchase heavy water from Iran to help Tehran meet commitments under its comprehensive nuclear agreement with world powers reached in July 2015. According to the deal, Iran must store no more than 130 tons of heavy water during the first year after signing the agreement. On June 1, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran announced a plan to sell 92 tons of Iranian heavy water to the United States, Russia and several European countries.
