Advisor to Pakistani Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said work on the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project is in progress and Islamabad is also in talks with Tehran for the import of electricity. “The foundations of bilateral relationship between the countries are very solid,” he added, Pakistani news website Pakistan Today reported. Pakistan's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources is also reportedly in the process of negotiating amendments to the Gas Sale Purchase Agreement with Iran for the early implementation of the much-delayed Iran-Pakistan pipeline project. “A draft amendment has been shared with Iran and it has agreed to negotiate on it along with some other amendments in GSPA,” official sources in the ministry said. The 56-inch diameter pipeline will start from South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf and end at Nawabshah in east Pakistan, covering a distance of around 1,931 km with 1,150 km in Iran and 781 km in Pakistan.
