Eighty-five percent of the cell-phones in the domestic market are smuggled into the country, Abdolmajid Ejtehadi, head of the Headquarters for Combating Smuggling of Goods and Foreign Exchange said on Monday. The official said the low quality of domestically made cell phones are the main culprit behind the large number of contraband in the market. The government is studying a 44-point plan, under which it seeks to make the monetary system transparent, organize domestic production, employ effective methods to control smuggling, and regulate the prices of domestic products.
