Head of Iran’s chamber of commerce, mines, industries and agriculture, Gholam Hossein Shafeie, has called for the establishment of Iran-Bangladesh Trade Committee, saying that the body can play an effective role in exchange of information between the two Muslim countries.
In a meeting with an economic delegation from Bangladesh, Shafeie said that both countries have enormous capabilities for expansion of bilateral economic ties, noting that mutual trade can be drastically improved, should the two states reach a consensus on adopting a “preferential tariff system”.
“Iran’s priority is to expand trade with Islamic states,” he was quoted by IRNA as saying.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury, head of the Bangladeshi delegation, for his part, said: “A joint trade committee between the two countries will help facilitate transfer of information between business people in the two countries.”
He expressed the hope that trade between the two countries will increase in the future.
