French companies are keen to resume business in Iran including in the country’s untapped auto market, said Bruno Foucher, the French ambassador to Tehran, on Monday. Attending the second international auto conference in the capital, he said French companies used to be active in Iranian markets and “even in this event many French auto manufacturing companies are present. This indicates that they are still interested in the market and eager to resume investment.” The French companies are only waiting for further improvement of the economic situation in Iran to make investment, he said, referring to constraints imposed by western sanctions against the Iranian economy. The auto conference kicked off Monday hosting over 500 representatives from 250 leading auto companies. Participants come from 30 countries. The event is aimed at preparing development plans for the industry and encouraging international players to invest in the sector.
