Close to 359,000 households participated in the online registration of the eighth round of the National Population and Housing Census since it began on Saturday up until 11 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the head of the Statistical Center of Iran. “More than 1.2 million individuals have registered on SCI’s website so far. The turnout is unprecedented,” Omid Ali Parsa was quoted as saying by IRNA. The official added that Semnan, Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad, South Khorasan, Bushehr and Kurdestan provinces registered the highest participation rates. The nationwide census began on September 24 and will run through November 15. This round will be conducted in two phases: online registration (September 24-October 15) and door-to-door survey (October 16-November 15). The Statistical Center of Iran is the official body in charge of providing data on Iranian population, agriculture, manufacturing, trade and economy.
