270 Tunnels Under Construction

A total of 270 tunnels are under construction in Iran, while 154 others are being studied in road, highway, freeway and railroad projects, a deputy minister of roads and urban development said. “Over 800 railroad bridges have a mouth width of less than 20 meters and the rest are over 20 meters wide,” Kheyrollah Khademi was also quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency. Khademi noted that more than 2,000 bridges are being constructed across the country, over 1,000 of which pertain to rail projects.
