The first production phase of South Rohina Steel Complex was inaugurated on Wednesday by First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri and Minister of Industries, Mining and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh in Dezful in Khuzestan Province. Rohina Steel is scheduled to begin operation with an annual production of 450,000 tons of rebars and this figure is set to rise to about 3 million tons in the next two years, IRNA reported. The plant is also expected to create close to 2,000 jobs in the future, according to deputy governor of Khuzestan Province, Habibollah Asefi. Rohina Steel currently employs 214 workers. Asefi added that the plant was established with an investment of $39.47 million by the private sector using domestic and international financing. According to the company’s CEO Mohammad Jaberian, the construction of Rohina Steel’s second phase is about 60% complete and will be finalized by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2018).
