Sungun Copper Mine exported over $317 million worth of copper products during the nine months to December 21, accounting for about 19% of East Azarbaijan Province’s non-oil exports during the period, the deputy head of East Azarbaijan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization, Gholamali Rasti, said.
A total of 1.5 million tons of non-oil goods worth $1.7 billion were exported from the northwestern Iranian province during the nine months, up 20.2% in terms of value year-on-year.
Sungun is Iran’s second largest copper mine after Sarcheshmeh in Kerman province, holding over 470 million tons of proven and 1 billion tons of potential reserves with an average purity of 0.6%.
