Zinc Industry Development Commercial Company sold over 36,000 tons of zinc ingots during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 20), over 80% of which were exported, according to managing director of the company, Abolfazl Banan.  Turkey, India, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Pakistan, the UAE and Iraq were the main export destinations, Minews reported. ZIDCC is the commercial agent of Iran’s largest lead and zinc mining holding, Iran Zinc Mines Development Company. The managing director said the company is planning to increase its annual production capacity to 260,000 tons in the near future, before expanding its export destinations by registering at the London Metal Exchange–the world’s largest market in options and futures contracts on base and other metals. Banan explains that the push to expand exports is mostly due to the low domestic demand for lead and zinc ingots.
