Over 29,000 tons of copper cathode and 39,000 copper anode ingots were domestically produced in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), which indicates a 7.5% rise in production volume of both industrial commodities compared with the corresponding period of last year. Over 26 million tons of copper ore were produced from the three mines during the two-month period, Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported. Iran accounts for 4% of the world’s total copper reserves or roughly 2.6 billion tons and domestic production represents 75% of the total for the Middle East. National Iranian Copper Industries Company is listed on Tehran Stock Exchange and is the country’s top non-oil exporter.
