The ninth elections of commerce, industries, mines and agriculture chambers are set to be held today, March 2, across the country.
According to a report by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, a total of 1,547 candidates have decided to participate, of whom 535 will be elected through direct ballot.
All provincial chambers must have 15 representatives, such that the board of directors of each chamber should comprise five elected members.
With 657 candidates, the commerce sector is the most crowded field, followed by the industrial sector with 461 nominees, agricultural sector with 268 and mining sector with 161 candidates.
The chamber of commerce is locally known as private sector parliament in Iran.
The elections are held every four years.
