An electric motorcycle has been produced locally by the Khodadadi Technical Institute in Bander Anzali in Gilan Province.
With a fiberglass body, the two-wheeler is powered by an 8,000 watt-hour engine that enables the motorcycle to reach 160 km/h.
Automotive website Asr-e Khodro said thanks to the powerful engine, the bike has no trouble going up steep roads. In addition, the disk brake gives it intact control in stopping and reduces the likelihood of skidding.
The battery runs for 120km with a single charge and takes about two and a half hours to fully recharge. The battery can be charged by plugging into a household electrical outlet.
Even with special equipment, charging a battery takes significantly longer than filling a gas tank, which can make electric motorbikes less flexible than their gasoline counterparts. However, electric bikes are advantageous in that they are environment-friendly with zero emission.
In polluted cities, commercializing cleaner means of transportation and motivating the people to prefer such vehicles over fossil-fuel-powered rivals can help curb air pollution.
